The Learning Center offers independent online learning, allowing you to take classes in an alternative setting and at your own pace. There are three instructional settings in the Learning Center: Independent Study, Acceleration, and Credit Recovery.
There are two Independent Study options: “Traditional Independent Study” and “Block Independent Study”. Traditional Independent Study means students are completing all their work at home and are meeting once a week with their supervising teacher. Block IS means students are attending two periods every day in the Learning Center with a one-hour meeting with their teacher.
If you are an IS student you have a Master Agreement and an IS folder where your teacher charts your progress, establishes a pacing guide, and keeps work samples.
Online Learning students seeking acceleration or credit recovery may have a full class schedule on campus and are either in the Learning Center for one period or two periods. In your first teacher meeting, you will receive an Online Learning Contract and a pacing guide to show how many classes you can finish. Your teacher will also set up a weekly meeting schedule.
All Learning Center courses fulfill the Escondido Union High School District graduation requirements and most courses fulfill the California State (CSU) and University of California (UC) “a-g” requirements. Once you complete all required classes, you will receive the same San Pasqual Diploma as students in the traditional classroom setting.
